Chicago vacation - July 15, 2008

Watch out Batman here comes Batbaby!!!!

Now I'm a turtle. Let me see what's in this old dead log.

Peeewwweee, I smell something.

I'm feeling a little clammy, how about you?

Rub a grub, grub. Is that right?

Oooops, I've been eaten by a beetle.

Wow, look at all of the dead animals.

The Field Museum says that the ape behind me and Daddy is my great, great, great grandaddy. Do you think we favor?

These are huge! I hope they don't step on us.

Somebody should feed this fellow. He's all bones. You know, maybe I should learn to hold my own bottle.

After we left the Field Museum we went to the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum. Well, none of us are rocket scientist so we didn't stay very long. We were bored.

Momma and I went into Lake Michigan. It was really pretty and cold. The beach was more like little bitty rocks than sand.

Me and Daddy took a break on the lake wall.

We are leaving the city now for the last time. This is the end of our vacation. I hope you enjoyed it.

After seeing how skinny T-Rex was I thought I'd try holding my bottle one more time.

I'm pooped. What a week. We go home tomorrow morning. Pray we have a safe trip home. Sweet dreams.

Chicago vacation - July 14, 2008

This is really how "I" got around. Layed back enjoying the ride.

We visited the Field Museum on Monday and saw an Egyptian exhibit.

Daddy said this guy has the "Big Head." I hope I never get that!

We saw some Egyptian mummies.

Here I am with my Mummy.

We left the Field Museum because there were so many kids in there and went to the Shedd Aquarium. I'm confused again. This is a seahorse but it doesn't look anything like the horse I saw yesterday.

Whooooa. Big Mouth fish. You are uuuuuuugly!!!!

Daddy said I have a lizard tongue. Where's the tongue?

These little guys are really cute.

Me and my daddy chillin' for a minute.

Hey there, what are you? A Beluga whale? You look more like a dolphin. This animal stuff is confusing.

Oh cool, a person at last. He's going to show us our way home. This is Christopher Columbus.

Chicago vacation - July 13, 2008

Hey there again. It's Sunday and we just came from worship service. Now we are on our way downtown, wanna come with me?

We stopped off for some lunch and Momma put this pickel in my mouth. It's pretty good but hard to eat with only 2 teeth! Daddy, take it out, please, before somebody sees me.

It's beautiful here. The weather is great.

This is the Chicago River - no brainer, huh? Isn't it pretty?

Guess where we are now? Millennium Park, duh. It's a 24.5 acre park. I sure don't want to get lost here! Hey Daddy, come on let's go.

O.K., now this was cool. This is the famous Crown Fountain. There are 2 fountains facing each other, each with a different face that changes every few minutes. There are 1,000 faces total. They are 50 feet tall and they both spout water from their mouths. Not every face will spout water so you just have to wait. When they are not spouting, the water is coming down from the top like a fountain.

Here's my momma.

This is Cloud Gate, aka: the big silver bean. It weights 110 tons!!! It does some cool reflections. We had a lot of fun here.

This entire park is wild. This is the Jay Pritzker Pavilion where they have concerts. It has 4000 fixed seats and holds another 7000 people on the Great Lawn!

After we left Millennium Park we walked to the Buckingham Memorial Fountain. It shoots water 135 feet high! Here's me and my Daddy.

Momma would have loved to go to a play while we were in Chicago but I wasn't so sure I would like that so we didn't go.

You were asking earlier how we got around town. We used the "L" (elevated) Trains and city buses. Most people in Chicago use public transportation, parking costs too much in the city.

I'm having a little milk while we wait on our train. Look, I'm holding my own bottle! Yeah, don't expect me to do it again any time soon, though. I like Momma and Daddy to hold it most of the time. See ya at the other end of the line.

Chicago vacation - July 12, 2008

On Saturday before Daddy left for the Nascar race we all went to a big garden where people are planted. It's called a cemetery.

Al Capone was planted here. Daddy said he was a bad guy. Just think, he was a little baby like me once. I wonder what made him bad?

Here is a crypt of a whole family of bad people, the Genna's. I guess they didn't want to be planted so they made this outhouse.

I wonder if this is as close to heaven as this bad guy will ever get? This is Dean O'Banion. If I don't eat my vegetables does that make me a bad baby? Does that mean I'll be a bad guy oneday? I hope not.

The mausoleum is a place where lots of people are filed away instead of planted. This one has over 30,000 people!!

After Daddy left for the race, Momma and I went across town to see the Garfield Park Conservatory.

We saw a lot of flowers and this one had a bee on it so we didn't touch it.

I like these bushes. Momma said they are boxwoods but they don't look anything like a box or wood. I wonder what they taste like?

How cool!!! Fish.

This is really confusing. This is called a Bird of Paradise but it can't fly!!!

After leaving the Conservatory we went to the other side of Chicago shopping. We really just went looking.

I thought this was a hugh dog but Momma said it is a horse. Wow!!! It's big.

I wanted something from here but thought about how many calories each treat had in it so I didn't get anything. (Was that me or Momma thinking that?)
