Chicago vacation - July 11, 2008

We had a full day of adventures on Friday. We started out at the Navy Pier. You ask, 'What is the Navy Pier?' It's almost a 100 year old pier that was once an amusement park. Now it's a pier that has lots of different things on it.
Here's a full view of the pier. It's on the lakefront of Lake Michigan. On the pier are stores, resturants, museums, an amusement park, miniature golf, a botanical garden, an IMAX theatre, the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, outdoor stages for concerts, steet performers, any kind of boat ride you can imagine, and lots more. We rode the Ferris Wheel. Can you see it?
Here we are sitting on a ship anchor at the end of the pier.

Lake Michigan is really pretty. From here it doesn't seem like we are in the city at all.

We walked through a neat stained glass museum that Momma liked.

Here's the hugh Ferris Wheel we rode. It is 15 stories high. It cost $6 each for us to ride this thing. Can you believe they charged for me, too!!! You only got to go around one time. It took 7 minutes. That's almost a dollar a minute!!! But it was neat.

Here's my Daddy holding me during my great adventure Ferris Wheel ride. The view was really great.

O.K., after we left the peir went to the top of that tall black building. That's the Hancock Tower. It's 100 stories high and has the fastest elevator in the country!

Here we are at the top of the Hancock Building. Wow, look at all those buildings behind us.

Hey look, there's even a beach down there.

And there are pools on top of some of the buildings. Look there's someone swimming.

Oh my goodness, grass!!!

Look, another beach. Chicago has it all.

They have lots of boat harbors here, too. But the boats aren't attached to piers, they are just out in the water.

There were some dare-devil stunts you can do at the observatory. Here I am out on a cross beam 100 stories up. I wasn't scared at all.

Daddy washed some of the windows in his dare-devil stunt. He stood on a scaffold held by ropes 100 stories high. He is really brave.

Next we went to see Wrigley Field, the oldest ballpark in the National League.

Daddy said when I get bigger he's going to teach me how to play baseball. Maybe he'll be my coach.

This is called 'Beyond the Ivy' because it's past the back fence that has ivy growing on it. That's what my daddy said. You can buy a seat on top of one of these houses to watch the ballgame.

After all of our great adventures we had pizza at Gino's. Well, actually Momma and Daddy had pizza. I drank my bottle and ate baby food. I don't really care for pizza. But don't worry, I won't be drinking from a bottle when I graduate highschool. I'll eventually eat real food. See you tomorrow for another great adventure.

Chicago vacation - July 9 - 10, 2008

We are going on vacation to a place called Chicago. This is the airplane I'm about to fly in. This will be my first time flying, I hope I like it!!

Wow, that was cool. Flying isn't so bad. We're in Chicago now and here are my first new friends. We're just clowning around together.

Our first great adventure is the Museum of Science of Industry. You can't see it but behind me is a German submarine we captured in WWII.

Woooohhhh, check me out. I'm driving a tractor. Watch out down there, I'm coming through.....beep, beep.

What happened to my dog?? He really swole up!! Oh, this isn't J.B? A cow? What's a cow? It looks like my puppy.

O.K. I'm no rocket scientist but I think this lady has been down in the coal mine too long.

Hey, wait a minute. Where's my Momma? Momma, come on, hurry, the plane is about to take off.

Oh, I didn't tell you but I cut my second tooth today. What do you think I'm doing? I'm brushing my teeth. You brush your teeth, don't you? Well, gotta go, it's bedtime. See you tomorrow, goodnite...don't forget your prayers.

Sneaking - July 3 - 5, 2008

Oh my goodness, you saw me. I thought I was sneaking. I promise I wasn't going to do anything like pull this table over or pull the lamp off of it. I just wanted to touch it, that's all.

Yum yum, ice water is really good after a long stroll. O.K. I know I didn't have to walk but it was hot outside nevertheless. Thanks Maw Maw.

This is Miss Karen, she's my afternoon teacher in the Nursery. She says I'll be moving up soon to the Creepers room. I'll miss you, Miss Karen.

Family ties - June 29, 2008

When I look at people I look into their eyes and see their heart. This is my birthmom and I see her as she sees me, with love.

There are some things no one can ever understand unless they've been there. Momma, it was so good to see you. I pray God will take care of you until I see you again.

Me and Da are having a little talk. You know, I have his disposition. We are both really laid back and easy going. Not much ruffles our feathers.

Da is letting my sister, Kylie, help feed me. Hey, can you tilt it up a little so I can get some milk??

Here we are, Ge Ge, me, and Da. It's wonderful being loved so much. I hope someone loves you as much as Ge Ge and Da love me.

Pool Party - June 28, 2008

Our Circle of Love adoption support group had a pool party and I got to go play in the pool with some of my friends. Thank goodness momma didn't put that speedo on me this time!

This is Mrs. Teresa, you remember her. She's the one who helped my Momma and Daddy get connected with the right people so they could find me. I love her.

Mrs. Renae said I look like Gilligan in my hat and Barney Rubbel in my float. Are you laughing at me? Can you just imagine if I had my speedo on, too?

This is Capri with her Momma, Carrie. Capri just came from Guatamaula to be with her Mommy. She's my new friend.

This is Isabella with her Momma, Linda. Isabella is also my friend.

Lukes world - June 19 - 27, 2008

Shhhhh, I'm sleeping. Whisper......I know I don't look comfortable, but I am. I'm just taking a little power nap. NO, don't move me, I'm O.K.! Just give me a minute. I'll be bouncing again in just a minute.
Maw Maw is letting me drool cantelope juice all over her. Ummmm, this is really good but it sure does make a big mess.

Rock faster Grandma. Come on, hold me tight and lets go, go, go!!!!

The Exploreum - June 7, 2008

Momma and Daddy took me to the Exploreum to see the Bengal Tigers. I slept through the show but they enjoyed it.

After the tiger show we went inside for me to play. Daddy loves to play with me. We have a great time together. He is so much fun.

Momma showed me the sea animals. She said lobsters are really good so I'm going to eat this one. Do you want a bite?

The lobster wasn't that good. I'm glad you didn't try it.

Momma and I took a tug boat ride. I brought another lobster, I thought I'd give it another try.

Daddy took me to see the lighthouse. Momma said Jesus is like a lighthouse in our lives. I love my Momma and Daddy.

Well, it's time to say goodbye. This sailor has to set sail. See ya at the next port, ole' captain.
